More of Spain and Gibraltar

Who knew you could find monkeys in Europe? or that monkeys eat oranges?

Dave gave an overview of our trip to Spain and Gibraltar but I'm going to fill you in on some of our more personal experiences. With three days and three cities to explore, it was a marathon of sightseeing. Neither Dave nor I had been to Spain before and we know very little Spanish, making it difficult to communicate with the locals (too bad Dora the Explorer wasn't around while we were growing up!). We set out from our little home in England at 3:30 AM and landed around 10 AM local time in Malaga.

My sweet husband gave me the window seat. This is a view from my window while approaching the airport in Malaga...

After a cold dark winter it was really exciting to see the streets lined with palm trees! I was also thrilled to see an H&M (we've seen one on every trip but this one had the nicest exterior by far). Check it out...

Dave and I found a rooftop along the gardens of Alcazabar that turned out to be a perfect spot for dancing. There was a man below playing his accordion- so we had our own live Spanish music. I couldn't help taking his picture. The other picture captures the city's tropical feel.

Dave had mentioned eating seafood paella and below is a picture of his meal. Beside it is my favorite edible part of the trip, a cone of the most delicious strawberry cheesecake ice cream!

We had lunch outside the University in Seville, where prices were better and twenty-somethings swarmed the streets. We got 2 Jarras de Cerveza AND nachos for €2!

After touring the Roman theater, Alcazabar fortress, and Museo Picasso we headed to the bay to rest by the water. Dave always keeps gummies on hand while we travel so that he can refuel me when needed. As we sat on the dock and ate our gummy bears, schools of fish swam under our feet. The water was so clear and beautiful! I dropped some gummies in the water in attempt to get their attention...

On our way down the Giralda tower in the Seville Cathedral, Dave snapped this picture. There were no stairs in the tower, except for a few at the very top, but the other thirty-something floors were made accessible by a series of ramps. I like this photo for the architectural qualities in the archways and because it is one of the few couples pictures we took that weekend.

(Here was an attempt to take a couples picture with the Cathedral in the background)

The tropical flowers and trees were so impressive!

This last picture is one of my favorites from the garden inside the Alcazar in Seville.

Until next time! Love you all!
